Does this living soil eliminate the need to use nutrients? So just watering til harvest? Read somewhere its the same conditions as in the wild, although that could have been something else...read a lot lately

Yes and no mate, the idea behind living soil is to mulch and use compost teas.

Mulching leaves organic material in the soil which get broken down by the microbiology living in the soil, hence the name.

The compost teas in turn add extra microbiology to the soil to give it a boost!

Using cover crops etc all help aswell but yeah, you dont feed with bottled nutes

This is a good organic mix but not a super soil. Id suggests, minimum, 2 toppings of malted grains/kelp throughout an auto grow. I do weekly bio tea feedings in a mix similar to this.

There is such a thing as a water only soil though, made much the same way but with some seriously time consuming ingredients.

If you have a big enough container this would be good for water only. Running smaller pots and expecting to go water will give you problems.

If youre going for smaller containers c-rex is right on, mulch it heavy and a couple good top dresses (lots of options) and use the malted barely weekly as a topdress.

If that works it would be a heck of alot easier than mixing. That stuffs pretty reasonably priced too isn't it?

I think KisOrganics sells bags of water only soil. I dont think they recommend smaller than a 7 gallon pot though. Probably costs a big more than the miracle grow does.

It's only 9.99 A bag, I got it for 8.99 the day I was in the store, so goes on sell some times. That is cheap as hell for Organic Soil, but they make tons and tons of it, so keeps the cost down I guess.
