I know that theoretically I could talk to the council or CRAPS, but both are not on my desire-ables list. So what would be the right thing for Joe-Citizen to do?
Basically, I found a couple of dead pigeons under a railway bridge as I was walking on my way to a super market. I had just voted so to see 2 dead pigeons in my path was not the most calming or reassuring experience.
They looked odd as they had both curled up but laid there on the pavement, dead. Very little blood on the pavement, and they did not seem to have struggled as in, feather condition seem absolutely fine, both just seem to have just simply passed on.
Hard to say that they were hit by trucks because they were really looking okay. Anyhow. I put them aside by the bushes and that was it. I wished I had a shovel but it would have been even more weird if I were to bury them on public land n a council run park.
So what exactly is the right thing to do?
And what if it were a pet animal? I once drove by a dead cat on the road as I was on my way to work. By the time I got back it was a unrecognisable mess on the road. I felt horrible to have not taking the body to a vet, but I was a bit scared at the time of being late for work and in hindsight, lets put it this way, nearly 20 years on I still regret not having defied work and should have taken the body to a vet.
So here's my day off on another tangent.
