Yeah passive with 2m or so accoustic ducting drawing air from my bedroom below mate. That 500m3/h fan doesn't need an active intake in a space that size lol it pulls air in through everything

And yeah always fecking xmas decs pmsl

Cant stress this enough though, while the fan run very quiet/silent it is a beast lol so standard ducting is gonna make a right fecking racket and there will be no point having a boxed fan..
The sound that the air makes 'whooshing' at speed is gonna be substantial.

The accoustic duct has holes in the inner 6 inch duct that allow the air to be pushed through into the outer fibre glass layer. This then deadens the sounds the air makes in the ducting, like kills it lads, I cant hear even with ear to the ducting!!!!

Dont bother with a boxed fan with out 1.5m of accoustic or phonic trap ducting either side of the fan

Got some acoustic duct on that ruck fan I mentioned in previous post. Best way to silence that whoosh....is to poke the inner duct in a bit, and leave an overhang of the insulated gear.

I will really need to go down the ninja stealth mode on my next setup. So that boxfan would save me a lot of hassle by looks of it

Mate mine is full on stealth bro, you gotta tweak the controller to get it running bare minimum when temps are stable.

80% of the time you hear absolutely nothing. On a hot day you here a very low pitched hum directly below the fan under the loft hatch. In the bedrooms it cant ever be heard and the hum is easily mistaken for a boiler

Silence was a non negotiable for me brother

Non negotiable to me to really m8. As you know I'm moving into a flat. With neighbours below.
And also my son....I need to try hide it from him. It was easy before, when he was younger. But he's 9 now, and he's no daft.

Yea 100% bro, so if you have the accoustic duct and controller then 100 notes on the fans a no brainer mate if you have the fund like.

My daughter is 6 mate and shes never asked about any noise or feck all mate. Mother in law comes round and never asks nothing, even on a summers day mate.

Deffo a thumbs up for the fan from the Igloo
