When reading different diaries and grow reports I see people talking about foxtailing.
What is foxtailing?
What causes foxtailing?
Is it good or bad?

It's when the bud sites start piling up more and more bud on top of maturing bud and maturing THC. For me that is A good thing, for some they seem to think that more bud at that stage in the life of the bud, is degrading. Doesn't have time to development mature THCa
before harvest. Even if it doesn't, it doesn't really make that much difference, but does give you more bud than you would have had. JMO

Heat & genetics seem to be the main cause...

The current definition of Foxtailing in the States is when the buds begin to get wispier at the very end of their lives. It isn't too desirable for most growers, who prefer to have the hard nuggets. The tip of the bud tends to spread out a little, much like a fox's tail looks, as opposed to a tight nugget. In my opinion, it isn't too big of a deal except to the extreme purists who insist on harvesting when the cloudy Trichomes/Amber Trichomes ratio changes to .0975%, or some stuff like that. It is more of an aesthetic issue than anything, but some folks are purists that insist on having the ultimate bud and turn their nose up to anything but perfection.
Other definitions might exist, but it isn't a desirable trait if you are a perfection grower. Myself...who knows? I like Foxes!
