For plain water, I found that just a few drops of grow nutes would reduce the PH to 6.0. I used grow instead of PH down. For heavy feeds, the nutes reduce my PH to 4. I used PH UP to get it back to 6.
CityDweller I do believe you're right mate, however, there are some important factors growers need to learn about the soil they are using before they mess about with PH..

Soil can buffer PH levels very well, but some believe it or not increase PH and some decrease it (not so much keeping a balance), so you need to find out what your soil is doing before adjusting PH

Thanks citydweller, good to know it's not just my water. I had just been ignoring the problem until I started hydro but I might start looking at the ph again.

Ice, how would you test the ph of soil?

Well after speaking with CD mate it seems I may have been checking it incorrectly (I checked using tap water and CD explains that I should have tried using RO/distilled water)..you can use this guide

Dunno if it of interest but bluelabs brought out a probe that's supposed to be amazing for reading conditions in the medium. Comes with a bluelab pricetag though

Thank you, seems simple after you explained it but I couldn't work it out.

New scales have arrived, this time I wont stand on them... Went with a 20g 0.001g accuracy and 3kg 0.1g accuracy. Now I might be able to get close to weighing 0.005g of Ammonium Molybdate Tetrahydrate for 1 litre of nutrients

Had a slight issue, forgot to move her down and the top bud touched the LED not sure if it will recover. I just hope the other top one doesn't reach the LED's. Seem to be fine as long as they are not touching it, no bleaching. Not much space left though, might have to resort to chopping the top of the bud off...

Finally got round to weighing out and mixing up my part AB Flower nutrients so started on 1/4 strength today. Had a plain water last time to flush any crystal build up. Still not sure if I should be using hydro nutrients in soil but I am going to anyway.

The LED's are the Luxeon Sunplus 35 2.5% blue ones. Do you think it looks stretched? I did think about going with the 12.5% LED's but read that they really don't need much blue light. Looking at the graph it seems about 10% relatively.

Yeah little stretched for led. I think a bit more blue would control it a bit more but 2.5% should be ok. I read as low as 5% is ok.

    How many watts ?

The max on the driver is 36v @ 1.67A but I am running a little under max. Maybe 35W. The space is pretty much 60cm by 30cm but only using half of it really.

It is G13 Haze so some sativa.
