Default Thanks to iron man i have a project ha

    Hey guys,

I’ve been lurking today and read Ironmans thread about building a g’room and its inspired me to do the same.

6ft high, 4ft wide in my old coal house where I was growing, but had a few issues with temp, spidermite ect. So i figured id make a box inside the shed, and do it that way insulation the whole 9 yards.

Just a quick question on materials.

How much wood would I need 2x2 or similar
    50mm jablite
And MDF or Ply which would be better??

    Cheers guys n gals

Plywood over mdf and on the timber side that really depends on how you want to build your stud work but 2x2 or 50x50 will be enough.
Have a look at Gaz's loft build

It shouldn't move or twist unless temps get really really high with high humidity too .
Generally plywood is a very stable construction board.
I don't like mdf full stop but again it's a very stable construction board but it will swell and act like a sponge even the moisture resistant stuff.
Is the plywood for walling ? If so why don't you consider plasterboard?
You can get moisture resistant plasterboard and some come will a reflective side ?

I'd consider plasterboard it paints very well it's cheap , noise reducing, and fire retardant.
    Easy to cut and shape???

I agree plasterboard ftw. I used cheap plaster board and PVA'd it before I painted it.

    Sent from Thames Iron works

Honestly? I look at the angles Gaz cut and I have absolutely no idea how he did that.

    I'd get a man in.
