If it was me I would grow in coco to start with. It is MUCH simpler.

It is easy to spot and deal with problems. Also you cannot overwater.

If you go coco a EC pen and PH pen are fundamental tools. That and some canna a+b for coco.

Soil FTW...feed every couple of days...stress free growing...sod those everyday feeds

Have had good results with both Canna Terra & Bio Canna...using Bio at the moment with their line of Bio nutrients...all good & green

I'm with AND on this..soil would be my recommendation too

Some good choices are Biobizz Lightmix, Verve B+Q is popular as is Jack's Magic Compost.

For those saying soil, may I ask.

For cannabis, I do not grow in soil. So I ask genuinely.

Soil seems very complicated to me as a beginner will not have the skill set to see, understand and address issues. Is it not better to learn the plant first and then up the ante and go organic. Soil changes lag so fixing problems is so much harder.

I would like to go no till soil - but for now am happy learning the trade. KISS being vital for me. Also repeatable results every grow.

With soil, what I do see day in day out on here is stunted plants, hot soil, over watered, over fed and yellowing plants in distress. Rare to see that in a coco grow!

Curious why soil is advocated as the beginners default choice??

I guess that's another factor which is down to a growers own choice of growing style and how they like to grow..if I like growing in soil and have done from the start then I will recommend what I like and do myself...I can't recommend something I have not tried, same as you when you say you have not tried soil.

On the flip side of the coin I've seen many coco grows here get messed up big time due to EC readings not being followed correctly, or a grower simply not understand coco..and underwatering etc.

Soil for me seems a lot easier to grow (and please coco growers I'm not starting an argument over which is best LOL)..these are MY personal reasons

I see many growers not even having a clue about PH, EC being another factor for them to consider that may seem complex to them, learning to manage watering is part of becoming a better grower in my opinion, so having a new grower actually learn the fundamentals just seems logical to me at least.

I'm 100% sure both ways of growing are good choices, but when it comes down to personal recommendations, then they are what we as individuals would do ourselves.

The great part is Jumper..we are all giving our opinions and ultimately the grower from these choices can research a little and see what would best suit there style

    I'd say coco

My first 3 grows were in soil and I did okay but personally I struggled solving issues and just couldn't seem to get things right but with abit more practice maybe I would have got there in the end

As for coco I have loved it up to now and the only downside I have found is watering every day like people have said but that has helped me take more note of my plants and what is going on, as I'm in the tent every day. I just feel I have more control with coco

Either way I'm sure people will advise you

    All the best

Also just to clarify, we can in some instances absolutely recommend a method of growing to new growers we don't use ourselves if we ourselves see it as an easier method for them, it's just that in my particular case I feel it's easier in soil, that's all
