Default Should i cut off my big fan leaves?

    Hi guys,

I just noticed my fan leaves are casting a lot of dark shadow on my lower new growth. Should i cut the fan leaves off?

I'd advise not to cut any leaves off, especially at this stage.. you could try some LST if you like, tucking leaves here and there would be absolutely fine

I was thinking to LST, but its till short. Maybe im going to wait for the lower growth to catch up so i can LST them... atm i cant seem to work out where im going to introduce the first bend... everythings so short!

That's fine, you can wait some more until you feel you have enough room to start training her. Have a read through this guide too, you might find it helpful - Clicky and Clicky

There is no rush and absolutely no reason to cut any leaves off.

I would be LSTing by now to get light down the middle. Also you need to bend to horizontal to encourage branching.

Your big problem is that pot and the depth to the top.

I would transplant to an airpot filled to the top. Then wrap a cable tie or two around the pot and use pipe cleaners to get her apart.

If unsure have a look at the led grow diary section for topped vs natural thread.

    I would also top her.

Yield is massively improved with training and stops single cola dominance

    FWIW too small to defoliate

    I agree with this.

That pot looks half full. Ad repot it the now. A few more days later ad top it. Let it recover then train it.

I never understand why you would pay more money for a pot that you only half fill....

Bit like having a roof full of solar panels then turning half of them off....Those leaves play a very important role especially for a young plant, they provided the plant with energy which it needs to grow they also store nutrients that can be used should the plant need them...Not so much an issue once the plant is established and has plenty of foliage but I wouldn't amputate the leaves of a young plant...
