Default Frigidaire Method of Drying Buds... WORKS GREAT!!

After my last grow, despite 30+ years of growing, I still get uptight when it comes time to drying them. Too fast and it doesn't get rid of the hayfield taste, and too humid will cause mold and mildew. After noticing that any plant based items in my fridge will slowly dry out but not get moldy. I threw a few freshly cut branches into the Frigidaire self defrosting refrigerator for a few weeks. When they were done, they were perfect! They were very nicely dried but not to the point of being crispy or falling apart, but just about ready to get stored away in mason jars.
This idea was presented to me the last grow and it sounded interesting, even though a lot of growers poo poo'd the idea. No mold or mildew, the hayfield taste and smell is gone, and the buds are ready for further drying and/or curing, if desired. I don't know if this would work on a manual defrost refrigerator, or if the vegetable bins should be used because of low airflow. Anyhow... it works great, is easy, and takes a few weeks to dry perfectly.
The wife wasn't too crazy about her groceries smelling like skunks, though!

Hmm this is a very interesting idea!

So it's just as simple as placing the bud inside the vegetable containers inside the fridge?..and if yes any 'ideal' temp settings (I have several options on my fridge)

It always blows my mind how low humidity is in the fridge ,I always assumed the opposite until a year or so ago ..I've never tried this method before but I'm sure I'll try it on a couple of buds next chop

Unless you have a separate fridge I see all manner of issues arising. Theory good... execution, well round mine would be hard. Cat food and all sorts on my lovely bud! Not like you can keep them in plastic bags!!!!

I could imagine contamination due to the noxious marinades I use.

I just laid out the cut branches on newspapers and placed them open on the shelves. I have the fridge set to a medium setting. I don't think the vegetable bins are good because of the poor air flow that they have. I noticed that leafy stuff would dry out but not get moldy when kept in the fridge. If it is covered up, like cheese, it gets moldy.

A seperate fridge is recommended, although the smell wasn't bad at all once it got everything chilled down. DON'T store Limburger cheese in the same fridge, though!

Theres no woman to automatically get the same stuff every week...regardless of whether its needed or not...

Theres only so much takeaway one man can eat though...thankfully, I get a lot of home cooked stuff from my customers (as well as getting paid )

Seedstock in the crisper drawers, bud drying on the shelves and 4 pints of milk in there somewhere...sounds like a plan
