Might be worth dropping Rich at IS an email? I had a brief chat with gardro the other day but he seems pretty busy so I'm not sure when he'll be around again...

One thing I know is we won't be getting a discount off Mars since we kicked there arse outta of our door and are no longer sponsors of the site . They was a incident which showed they had a lack of responsibility with our addresses

Ive watched a few reviews on these. They seem to be ball parking about v1 QB's and are cheaper. So if you don't mind growing with a little less efficient equipment you can save $100 on lighting a 4x2. These also come with a resin screen over the diodes which I think is a handy idea. The cost diff between the smaller veg light isnt so great though, its only $20 or so less than a HLG 100w and I don't see the purpose. Folks with easy access to IS discounts probably don't have anything to gain from these boards imo.

If Gardro was around, he could answer this. I thought reflectors were pointless for LEDS due to the angle off the LED lenses.

I just think they are coming in to the market way to late with nothing overly special.

As for the driver on top - no I prefer to keep mine away from the light to stop hot spots. These drivers run HOT.
Damn right drivers run hot . Im gonna frabicate a heatseak for it with a pc fan with a piece aircondition condenser coil . Mine runs at 50°C . Wired apart from the lamp

The boards themselves at 100% run at 36-38.9°C .

Same I have pc fans fitted above all my QBs blowing across the heat sinks aimed at the carbon filter. My drivers reside outside apart from the far red as I cannot get in to fit proper.

I will when the 430 and 730nm strips arrive later in the week.

I will build a custom rig.

I genuinely think the Mars design is flawed. I am sure you could remove it ... why though?!

Another vid that states it’s not quite as efficient as the hlg or is quantum boards.

    It's nice to be nice.

It is all in the diodes. It took me a long time to find HLG for what I wanted in the other spectrums.

Supporting British is a 80% lure and incentive for me for 10% price difference. Perhaps up to 15%.

I tried every UK LED guy for 430nm - but just too early, and no longer cosy with the reef tank scene anymore.

The guys in the UK are already facing sh!!Ty exchange rates to get their gear over here from China. Not like the guys in the states who buy cheap and then sell cheap at ridiculous markups to us.

UK all the way bro! These guys need to earn a wage for goodness sake.

Saving a few quid, when we all grow and save thousands .... I will never understand the argument. Let alone choosing clearly inferior and flawed design.

Hearing what Mars did here... jeez ... Invisible Sun all day. Price difference? No mate.... That is an amazing price for an amazing product.
