    Default Drying options

    Hi all,

Chopped last night and I am just curious as to which you guys would choose. I have two options and neither is great imo.

Put in cardboard box and put in main tent (27 degrees and 50% humidity)

Remain in current location (21 degrees and 75% humidity)

My dehumidifier raises the temp of the room its in by a couple of degrees. I could move that out the main tent but then I have two (maybe four) other plants in flower in there that I'm trying to keep the humidity down for.

    Which would you go for?

I'd go lower temp, higher humidity. It'll take longer to dry but I'd say that's better than drying too quick. Some air movement will help keep nasties at bay but no direct air flow on the buds...best in the dark too...

I dried mine this grow in the refrigerator, and it worked unbelievably well. I just laid them on a newspaper and set them on the fridge shelf and they dried slowly and nicely, without overdrying and keeping the taste and aroma. I was skeptical but now I think it is the way to go, at least for me. Make sure it is a self defrosting fridge, otherwise it could build up ice. It took about 2 weeks if wrapped in the paper, and about 7 days if the paper is left open. They seem dry when they first are taken out of the refrigerator, but when they warm up, the moisture content is perfect and I could put mine straight into jars for storage.

So as whip suggested I've left some where it already was lower temp higher humidity. The other I have gone to the fridge! Let's see how this goes. I assume I could just layer the newspaper over the top and fill the drawer might take longer though

Also I haven't bothered getting a second fridge, as a single guy I'm pleased to be putting something in that drawer

So half of this and the small stuff below on cardboard has gone into the fridge.

Here's the poor single man's fridge

Now my veg drawer has green things in it!

Oh and yeah I suck at trimming and just tell myself I don't mind the taste of leaf

    Hi.

Wow Ive never heard of the fridge method before and will certainly be giving that a go in the future . Fantastic idea if your having issues with
mold / budrot. Be careful that door gets shut tight every time though , last thing you want is an ice build up that then melts all over your bud.

I use a pitch black old stone walled cupboard I have and one of those hanging mesh shelves used for sock and smalls storage from Ikea or
wherever. With a fan pointed at the wall very similarly to you have and just make sure I open the door once or twice a day to let some fresh air
    in.

Drying bud in the fridge , well i never you really do learn something new everyday.

You might want to cover the buds with another sheet of newspaper, which helps to slow down the drying a tad. I found that the buds felt dry after a few days, but after warming up, they were still a little damp. I'm still trying to totally dial the process in, but so far, I haven't had ANY problems with drying, mold, mildew, or smells. I thought I over dried them as they felt crispy, but they softened up after coming to room temps for about a half hour. The sugar leaves tend to dry out more and come off easily, which helps with trimming. Good luck and keep us posted of your success or any problems that you run into.

I had some buds that I left in the fridge for too long, and they dried a little too much, although it was totally my fault. This was the 1st plant I chopped, trimmed half of it and put it back into the fridge. 2 or 3 weeks later, it is a little too dry for my liking, but I will see how it recovers when bagged for a day or two to let the humidity/moisture re-distribute itself. Like anything, keep checking on it, unlike what I did with this package. 3 weeks is a tad too long IMHO, although if I had covered it up with additional newspaper, it would have slowed the drying down a little more. It is still a work in progress. Two weeks in the fridge worked out great... but every grow, strain, and fridge is different. Just make sure to allow enough air flow.
FWIW, you might need to let your fridge go thru a defrost cycle or two... the extra water accumulates on the coils more than normal.
