When transferring my plants to there final pots I was sure to keep the soil quite loose for the sake of improved air circulation to the roots. Since flicking the lights to 12/12 the soil had become far more firm after only 2 days, is this normal? I'm guessing and also hoping it's a big boost in the roots growth filling out the pots, if this is the case and using 60L pots there must be some pretty big root systems under them lady's.

Perlite is usually added to add air space and to keep soils from compacting, as well as aiding in drainage. As long as the soil doesn't get too hard, the roots will be fine, but watch out for standing water in the root zone as it can cause root rot. Dirt plus water = mud, so make sure that you don't have that problem... you want to keep the soil as loose as feasible and things will take care of themselves, hopefully!"
