Default Energy saving with 2 lights

I have a long grow room and 2 600w lights. I am on a budget with electricty so resorted to using 1 light with 3 plants instead of 4 plants with 2 lights (60L pots). My plants cirtainly are not receiving the amount of light all round that I desire!

So with this in mind, next time round I am considering using 2 lights with 4 plants but alternating between the 2 lights each lights on hour. There will still be a slight increase to electric use as I would need a couple mins overlap for each bulb to kick in before the other bulb switches off.

I'm thinking this will then provide all plants constant light during lights on hours whilst sharing the ideal lighting between each end of the room every hour.

Tempreture has also shown issues in the passed when trialing 2 lights at once.

    Opinions?

    Happy inhalation talkers.

    Have you considered LED panels?

I am not aware of any of those to be honest tokers. I am tempted to use LED next time round. It sounds like they are better for energy and spectrum range but I honestly know little to nothing about them.

I don't recall anyone using light movers on here,Holland hydroponics in Manchester permanantley have one on demo ,I've often wondered if they are any good or not ...as to cost think they start at around £150 mark and upwards of £300

I've seen them being used here but only in a post rather than a diary

My intention with the idea I had posted is to utilise my room and set up for 4 large plants whilst keeping the electric supplyer happy.

I had set it up to have 2 lights with 4 60L pots. I was going to do 4 white widow X big bud in the room but a few seedlings failed after sprouting under a desk lamp and a free alien gorrilla seed came through as one of the stronger plants from the off

I think my next investment will likley be some kind ofis a seedling light to reduce the failed seedlings and the awful stretching caused by a bog standard desk lamp but I don't know what spectrum I should be looking for with lights for seedlings so any links or tips for a seedling light from my fellow talkers would be very much appreciated.

As my grow stands at the moment I have 1 to many plants for the amount of light but they are all looking
healthy so am going to see this grow through as it is then improve things to be able to utilise the entire room space with efficiency.

Ihave used some white on black plastic to make the room
Slightly Artaficialy smaller and bounce light closer to the plant but they could have done with light from other angles even though I spin them often.

My next step is to look into LED and I will begin with the link you shared lipnobody thankyou all for your feedback

Can anybody think of any major downside to my original suggestion? Anything I may have overlooked? Would I be better just reducing the wattage of the lights and having 2 lower power bulbs instead of alternating my 600W's?

Thankyou for your feedback and happy toking

ive grew 6 under one 400w hps mate was happy with the results
any chance youve a dim-able ballast?? you could get 2 250w bulbs instead.
ive always started my seeds in the paper towel method till taproot then plant into pot, domed under 400w half height until they gather their legs i then lower it down to reduce stretching.

i know some swear by rearing them under cfls before switching to hps/mh/led

there are even cases of using different lights at different stages n also throughout the grow.
but if yer really looking to save £ invest in leds fella.
