Hello folks thought I would do a wee build guide on my auto feeder. Might be handy for folks who going on holiday or doing a small hydro setup.
What you need.
• 25L bucket with lid.
• 1 water pump (I used micro jet oxy plus)
• 1 stirring pump ( recommend newa-wave)
• 4mm irrigation hose
• 4mm flow valve
• 4mm soaker hose.
• 4mm irrigation T piece
• 13mm irrigation hose
• 4mm irrigation connectors
• Irrigation hole punch
• aquarium thermometer
• digital timer with battery memory.
So let's get started then.
STEP 1.
Buy your tank.
I went with 25L bucket because of space but use whatever suits you. Keep in mind black coloured buckets are preferable to limit algae growth. You also want to insulate it. I used bubble foil for this.
Also cut a notch out the rim to allow wires and oxy line out tank.
I drilled a hole in bucket and added a grommet to allow feeder line this is optional. You could go through the notch you cut earlier.
STEP 2.
Take your 13mm hose and cut it so it's slightly taller than your bucket then fold the end over and secure it with whatever. Zip ties work great here.
STEP 3.
Work out how many feed lines you need coming off the mainline. Take your punch and pierce the required amount of holes.
I need 1 hole for the 4mm feed line and another hole higher up to break the siphon.
You then want to take your 4mm connector and put it into the punch like so.
Then push the connectors into said holes
(IMPORTANT) the 2nd hole Is used to break the siphon effect it needs to be above your water level at its highest. If you have your tank higher than the plants without this hole the full tank will drain out flooding your growroom even after the pump stops. SO DONT FORGET!!!
STEP 4.
Connect the 13mm mainline to your pump and stick it in your tank.
Then add your stirring pump to the tank ideally facing up you want it disturbing the surface of the water to help oxygen exchange.
Might as well add the thermometer here as well.
STEP 5.
Cut the 4mm feeder line to length from tank to plant and connect to the lower irrigation joiner.
STEP 6
Cut your soaker hose to size then join with 4mm T piece to create a drip ring. Then add to that a small section of 4mm pipe and onto that the 4mm flow control valve.
Once all that's done, connect to your feeder line and jobs a good un.
Hope this helps somebody. Done this on my phone so if it dont look right my apologies lol.
