    Default Bloody ph pen

Pen has been working fine all weeks and plants looking okay. Not the best but cuttings so need to just get going type thing. Anyway I pot them all up tonight and mix up some notes. 1ml of ph down into 6 litres. Reading 6.5 or something I forget now. So add some more ph down and still reads the same.

Here's the thing, I have had that happen before in the past. As if the pen isn't picking up the extra ph down added. It reads on point but just feel sometimes if get it wrong then adding more ph down isn't recognised. Have rinsed the pen and in about half an hour going to recalibrate it. Then mix a whole new batch up although I've given them a light feed with the water I had left over. Just to stop them going dry. Will recalibrate and see how it does if not good then ill be ordering a new pen. Shop near me doesn't seem to sell essentials ph pen. Which means ordering online. So praying it works.

Anyone else had similar happen? Take a reading add more and doesn't seem to change the reading? In the past I would add more until it went down and wind up burning plants a little.

Get a bottle of evian water and see if it's even working mate. The pH is on the side of the bottle.

Or better yet, purchase some calibration fluid and test with that if you don't already have some, this way you'll possibly be more accurate and you will be able to maintain accuracy

Thats not reliable .most Bottled water like that is r.o water and has 0ec and can seriously fuck up a ph meter . Got to be above .2ec

Get ph 7 and ph 4 calibration fluid

I use to like the Essential ph pens had one was reliable and lasted over 2 years. Then i brought new one and tbh it was awful so thought it might just be lemon so got another and it was the same total rubbish tbh. As for your problem i find cleaning the pen normally solves this i do it by placing the pen in luke warm soapy water and leaving to soak for 12-24hrs. Then rinse it off and re-calibrate using the ph buffer 7 & 4 as mentioned by Trex.

Cheers guys, I did calibrate it yeah but I'm not taking any risks lol . After I calibrate it the pen stopped making a beep sound when giving a reading. Thought fuck it for sake of a few quid and just ordered another, got here yesterday.

Gave them their first proper feed in the new pots so fingers crossed they start to pick up. Mentioned in another topic that they look a little shit. Every time I've had cuts from my best mate they look the same lol . Droopy but not through watering. Know that as his always do the same and they end up sorting themselves out. They just need too asap as it gets on my nerves looking at them like that lol . Not major worried as have photos from last lot I got from him and they done the exact same thing. Think next time will just have to take cuttings myself. Can get them vegging while this lots on the go then as well. Save a lot of time.

I have had lots of problems with new pens. I think the parts quality has degraded in many brands leading to fast failures.

Yes sir . My HM is fucking up already . Its barely 6 months old ffs . Stays at one reading so i keep adjusting then bang drop from 6.7 to 4 for example .

Im gonna invest in a Lab quality one and just replace probes . An all in one e.c and ph with 2 probes . No more fuckin around .
