    Default Need help with pest identification

    Hi Talkers. Sorry if this is in the wrong category. I could not locate the non cannabis growing section. I have these all over my Okra. They are killing the fruit. Neem is not helping. I would introduce predators into the garden if I could identify the pest and find a suitable predator. Thanks talkers! Cheers.

    Looks like a signal fly or an onion fly variety .

    Onion fly will lay their eggs in the plants soft tissue .

    Been having difficulty getting a good photo. This pest has a stinger that it sinks into the plants trunk. Especially around the base of the new fruits which kills the fruit. The signal and onion flies do not have this stinger. Also a bit different on the wings shape. Thanks for the try Trex!

    Hmm this is an odd one CD, it seems similar to a type of fruit fly, which does sink into a plant and lay eggs...not sure it's the same though ;

    Sorry AND just seen your post mate, I was researching for a while before hitting the post button with my opinion, does seem like the fruit fly, but can't be 100% certain

    Does not look right to me. Mine almost looks like an ant in body shape but has a very odd and distinct wing shape. (Not like flying ants) Hours searching online and cannot find anything that matches.

    I believe you..you have the perfect view of it, even from the pictures here it doesn't seem to be identical that's for sure...and it did remind me a little of a flying ant (in body shape) but can't be.

    It looks like I am wrong and @AND & @IceCalibur were correct with the Mexican fruit fly. My girl takes better photos than me. I was wrong about the stinger and wing shape.

    Thanks guys!
