Assuming you or in Soil, it depends on how good the soil is to start with. Most soil's is good for first month, before any is needed. JMO

I would not bother for 20 quid. EC control is a vital skill to learn from the off.

Otherwise you are very likely to burn her.

Got a ec pen planned cash a bit short for 2-3 weeks. Would you feed before that point bearing in mind they just popped through the jiffy today ? Do they need fed quicker this way rather than soil. ?

If you don't feed then they will die. If you do feed then it's just guessing & they could die....

The very roughest guess would be 1/6 of manufactures recommended dosage. If they start to pale try 1/5 then 1/4.

Being autos best to start them off to the best you can.

Yeah start 0.2 ec above base.

Also good to know what your background EC is, as that makes a massive difference.

I cannot use my tap water for instance.

Hey dude I was asking the same question in March they are spot on with the ec pen being required at the start. To give you an idea... out of my first ten seeds I killed five by overfeeding without an ec pen

Not to worry though! These guys still got me to my first harvest so stick with it and money gets a lot better when you are not forking out for street weed

The obvious difference is that TDS is not EC.... usually they read in PPM and have a software converter to alter the reading to TDS....

If it says PPM in the title or description then I would steer clear. You want one that will primarily display EC without you having to convert anything (like the aforementioned ones will!)

    This may help you...
