I would be very surprised if they ain't paying researchers to skew data in there favour much like the tobacco industry does/did.

Hopefully as legalisation spreads it will open up opportunities for proper unbiased research.

I think bad science presents itself relatively clearly but some one that spent time with academics there is grey area. I know for a fact that Russell group professor fudged results for money and thankfully was discovered and fired pretty quick.

Money for rearsearch has to come from somewhere so obviously people investing capital will want some benefit...be that the greater good or financial.

Thats however doesnt not make the research bad simply because of a funding conflict of interests. Are we saying all researchers are in it for the money ? Some sure ...many probably?? But science inst a career driven by greed, that comes later.

Many of these research teams are doing good science under a "pharmaceutical" giant or food company or whatever.

Read the science objectively first, thats why conflicts of interests are at the end becuase they shouldnt bare a relevance before you have had a chance to read it.

Are you right Scoobz. More than certainly but it also good not to throw the baby out with the bath water

Absolutely mate. I'm quite sure the vast majority of research is conducted ethically and to proper scientific standards and even if funding is coming from a biased source that in no way means the scientists actually doing the work are somehow ethically tainted by that.

Just pointing out that some of the companies out there can and do twist the results to favour there position.

Them little cut outs of scientific studys totally lacking any context, in the newspaper on the radio/tv especially ads. It's used to manipulate us as they know full well most folk wont go and read a full scientific study. The research could be absolutely top class man, but the message that actually gets out to the general public is twisted through the gloss of some advertising specialist.

Lol sound a bit tinfoil hat now but it's been done before and it will happen again no doubt.
