Big difference between hps and Mh in veg stage

Are there a big difference between using a mh and a hps bulb at vegging stage? Both are made for vegging stage.

The excess red in hps will result in stretched plants vs mh but its not all that bad

Also you need roughly 2w of mh for every 1w of hps from a light output point of view

Im using a hps plant for vegg and I think my plants are growing slow. Was thinking it was because I didnt use mh bulb. I think its 6500k kelving im using.

Wont get an hps in 6500K, mh you mean?

Is yours a dual spec perhaps?

Bulb should be ok still but you could swap out for dual spec which does best of both worlds.

Or buy a cheap led for veg

I got 600w +400w for bloom, but yeah maybe I should. Im considering led.

Highest K MH bulb I have ever had was 5,000K, but I see now they have one that is 7,200K.

Do u think I can use my ballast on mh? I got a old magnetic one.

I had A 400W that look something like that long time ago, and it only work on HPS, and if I wanted to use the MH, I would have had to buy another one for the MH, so probably not. I would just get me A 600W Digital Ballast, and do away with that old one. I bet it gets hot as heck.
