Default Invisible Sun LED ballast. Being hot fine?

I have had this installed in my grow tent and only because the plastic clips had snapped, I had put this back on when ghe light was on. Ballast felt really hot. I suspect this is absolutely fine but just wanted to check as I tied this with strong twine from the x4 mounting holes to prevent it touching the tent (even though fine, but didn't have time to check the temp tolerances of the tent material)

I'll be away for a couple of weeks so just wanted to ensure safety in the event the off timer fails due to broadband issues (which had a lot of lately)

It's normal for drivers to get fairly hot while they're on, how hot are we talking? Some of us use a longer DC lead and keep the driver outside the geow space if heat is an issue.

Usually around 85-95 degrees they will limit the current and slowly throttle themselves down. Recommend not to locate in hot location ( like top of tent on top of leds )

They are failsafe but you could limit what light your plants are getting without realising

Dont have your driver attached to the heatsink on the QB, (mistake i made at first,) As im in a tent and not particularly engineer minded, my light set-up is a little awkward but does the job. I suspend the light on a pair of ratchet hangers, then hang the driver a few inches over the QB heatsink. I then have a small clip on fan on the tent frame, pointed at the light/driver. Keeps it all cool and you could comfortably hold the driver without burning your hand if you wanted to.

I'll try that. I won't have the time to extend the chord but will be able to get a clip on fan. Had no issues with the light set up at all but being away for a couple of weeks prompts me to fault find on any and every little thing

Rekon mine hovered round 45°c . Then i repositioned it and runs at a nice cool 38-40 wih a nice soft breeze around it .
My boards hover around 34 ish full throttle . Just perfect .

Best use a laser gun type to check this stuff . I periodically do to make sure all is within specs

Laser guns are great, I check the temps of my plugs and sockets periodically to, make sure there's no loose connections or overheating extension lead etc
When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all.

Which value are you guys using for emissivity when measuring temps on aluminium and or shiny surfaces? I've noticed it's way off when using the standard 0.95

I merely point and shoot with the values it came with out of Lidl? What about leaf temps, would it be inaccurate taking the temp from those?
