Default Curing questions / advice (my first grow)

    Hey guys.

After 7 days of drying and checking that the stems has snapped and the buds feel like they bounce back, I've moved them into jars (see attached) yesterday.

I'm also monitoring the temperature, RH and placed a humidity pack into it.

Since yesterday, I've been burping them twice a day and noticed that the stickiness has slightly reduced when I gently touch them between my fingertips. However, the smell is still lovely and strong.

A few questions I have during this process, I need some clarity and there's seems to be a lot of conflicting views about this.

    1) Do I need to open the jars and remove all the buds onto a table every time I burp?
    2) During the moment when it's burbing, does that need to be a cool, dark place?
    3) Do I still need to open the jars even though I have humidity packs in them?
    4) the RH inside the jar is around 67%, do I need to wait until it reaches 62%?
    5) How do I know when to stop burbing them? When I gently squeeze the buds, it does feel dry on the outside and slowly springs back.

    Thanks guys.

For me pal i get them down to roughly 62 then jar them. You have a bit of moisture to remove yet.

Since you have boveda in there working hard, they are probably in the 70s still.

Do I need to burp them or does the purpose of the humidity pack does that?

The boveda will bring the rh down but should be used for maintenance really when the humidity is already out.

I would put the buds on cardboard for a bit longer, day or so.

Then back in jar without boveda and see what the resting rh is with lid shut. It will rise up again

Keep boveda sealed in something while doing this so not waste it.

You get a feel for these things. Ive taken buds down to 55 and thought oh shit but once in a sealed jar, they rest at 63 ish.

The final burping / boveda stage should be within a couple of percent of target inmho

I sampled the herb last night. Made a pure joint. Got me high as a kite. The outside bud doesn't feel sticky, but when I opened up the bud, noticed that it's sticky inside. Also, the smoke felt quite harsh and I still feel my throat a little soar this morning.

The shows as 66%, when I open the jar for about 10 mins or so, it goes up to 67% or 68%.

    Has anyone experienced this too?

Yeah, the dryness on the outside of the bud can be a little misleading, some of the bud in my jars feel really dry on the outside yet when i put it in the grinder, it comes out really moist but then I vape weed so it suits me to keep the rh a little higher.

What do you think I should do?

    Which vapouriser do you have?

just boils down to personal preference, i use the 68% boveda bags.Just remember though, curing at higher humidity does come with the risk of your buds going moldy. I use the mighty.

I'm using 62% boveda pack. Yes I'm aware of the moldy issue.

I have no issue waiting a month of curing, as long it's done properly and I get a proper finish and smooth smoke.

i left them in a paper bag for 8 hours, now they feel crispy and dry from the outside. Placed them back into the jars, 30 mins later, it's now showing 64% with the humidity packs in. Prior to the paper bag method the lowest it went down was 66%.
