I’ve got a dimmable ballast guys, only used the 3 settings so far (it has 4), being..
    250w,400w,600w.
Just swapped from my 400 - 600w to give a bit more during flower so I’ve cranked up the setting to 600w, but my question is what is this extra one for?

I’ve got a 600w dual spec bulb in so could I change to the boost?

I'm guessing it is giving it A small burst of power. IDK really, but I know on my 400W ballast, If I use one of those normal bulbs, that cost around 20 bucks, I get about 430W from the wall, but if I use the more expence blub, it pulls 484 W from the wall, so I am puzzle to why this extra setting, when the Difference is in the blubs. I think it gives your bulb a extra boost pushing it to its very max but your bulbs won't last as long as using it without.. I've never used this ballast but just what I hear..

Would I be able to use my 600w bulb on that setting or would I be safer on the 600w setting?

It should be fine, this is what the ballasts are designed for

I was always told to run the same watt bulb to match the ballast I own a couple with this setting and always change the bulb for required setting. have seen 600w bulbs crack with the boost setting.
