Would the humidity also impact the germination as much ? I would assume it's wet enough in the soil to not matter

Yes a soil too moist can stall a seed from germinating the tap root can come out and then just sit there rotting if too water available, you want just enough to keep it alive but go searching for more and cold soil can imo affect it even more and also I find keeping the seed in the dark until its an inch above the soil helps keep the stress low

Once the first set of leaves appear the plant will want to drink from the surrounding air as the roots are not developed enough to sustain quick growth so I recommend a minimum of 65%+ humidity for seedlings but higher the better
And now I even start autos in small party cups as its just easier to gauge how much water it's getting
And try not to water on the stem but inches away so root go searching
These are just my findings fella since growing in soil for some years

I was same as you mate, for years I though I could do away with a humidifier while using wet towel hanging and getting 50%humidity as I was thinking there is enough water in the soil, but when I seen how the humidifier was moviving the moisture around the leaves like a blanket it was one of those head slapping eurika moments and it clicked why it was an essential purchase
Domes can help but there is still not enough moisture moving around the plant to stop the leaves from drying out under intense lightning

I've just readied these for new beans mate while seeds are in a glass of water and just waiting for them to sink
Then they go straight into these

Pint plastic pot with a zip lock bag sprayed the inside and put over the top
I've just wetted the soil and not drenched it and keeping tickly warm in airing cupboard and then when I do sow the seeds they go back in warm dark cupboard until atleast 24hours after they've shown above ground and by then they usually have a good stalk on the go
Then I put them under lights and just spray the bag and exchange the air from time to time
They can stay in pot and bag combo for atleast a week or until leaves touch the sides then transplant to my final pots
With using smaller pots at start I find I can keep the soil from getting too cold for seeds and seedlings

The only difference I can see is, I don't plant the top of the seed 1cm deep. I make a hole deep enough to contain the taproot and just cover the seed with a pinch of soil so that it's about 3mm or so under the surface and very lightly pad the soil down....and put my lights on.
    That’s what I do works a treat

NS do yourself a favor and get some photoperiod beans that are known for their reliability and stability. Then use smaller pots and pot up as you go. Will save you money on seeds electric etc.

Thank you all so much for your time.
So on day 23 of the seedling being in soil, pic below, I decieded to move it to a DWC setup, as I was pretty sure it would not survive much longer in the soil. It was hardly growing, and the leaves were starting to discolor, disfigure and wilt.

    Soil day 23 :

I used a very mild dose of local hydro 3 part nutrients, only nutes and grow, no bloom. It almost immediately started to add growth,
A week later i moved it to a slightly stronger siolution. My background EC is .22, with a pH of 7.4. Nute solution landed an EC of 1.7 and a ph of 6.7

They growth is still a little weired.
Please advise on how to best move forward.

Day 10 in DWC, the new leaves are slightly curled towards the edges, too close to the lights? The RH is quite low in the mid-late 40's, maybe I need to address that immediately?

Default Start again or continue ?

    Hello!

So the NL auto, now on day 36 since germination.
Since I have moved it to a hydro rig, its growth seems good. But the old leaves that took damage have not recovered.

The breeder (seedsman NL Auto), gives this strain a 60 day cycle.
Do I continue to grow this out ? In which case I would need all the help I can get.

    So, Please help ?
