It was a random pic pulled from google... but surely the dynamo (I doubt they had alternators?) cope with the demand? Or are the lights not wired up?

Why wouldn't have an Alternators, or Genernator? Isn't that what they have to do the regular lights?

The original Lambrettas would be pre alternator on bike days? it would most likely be dynamos - 6v at a guess too?

Usually run a separate battery just for the lights and charge as nesessary...those with the money have an electronic conversion to 12v with a seperate charge control for a 2nd battery

I think this is the reason I had a 500cc Honda, it easily coped with a couple of 12v spots

Next thing I'll be hearing is that they were just for show

Been attending the IOW scooter rally for the last 25 years plus....Must admit i've never given it any thought about running the lights but seen the scooters buzzing round the island at night fully illuminated....Just dug this up http://www.ilambretta.co.uk/extras.html

Was that an A, B or C? I used to have the C which was a single, 4 stroke... I got rid of it as the inner-skin of the down pipe separated easily and started to rattle (and bloom) & at just under £30 a pop (in the 80s) it wasn't cheap. I got rid of the bike once I had put the third one on it

The A was the twin cylinder 'Scorpion' - but I'm stuffed if I can remember about the B
