    Default Carbon filters

So after a few years, infact all my growing years I've used rhino pro, they have always seen me well untill the last year or so. This one I've got now is less than a year old. The one previous to that was about the same age. I got intouch with them at rhino and they sent me out a brand new one which gets a big thumbs up for customer service. Quick response etc.
Now this new one is on it's way out and to me, it's the most vital part of growing above anything else. I know humidity can fuck them but it's not been high, infact no where near the levels I had in the attic at the last pad even using the nft system.
So what is everyone using? And do we have a clear consensus on the forum on which is the pick of the bunch?

I’ve got a Carboair it’s the bollocks imo and comes with proper metal hooks welded which are perfect for hanging it to poles in tent.

Vivosun all the way brother . Ive had 3 now . 2 of em for the past 3-4 yrs . Still doing its job .

With regular maintenance . A good vaccuming and blow compressed air lightly . Then a rinse . 20 min Soak . drip and slow dry once every 6 months resets them when they are getting semi clogged with dust .

    Never failed me yet !!!

You soak the whole filter? First time I'm hearing anyone do this.

I currently have 2 filters, one in front and one after my fan. the one in front is a 75m3 Can which I've already re-burned the charcoal off after which it lasted nearly a whole grow. Re-packing the char as tightly as it was is difficult and I had a bit left over.
The filter behind my fan is a 480m3 PrimaKlima. Even though the smaller filter broke through already it should still increase the lifespan of the PrimaKlima by acting as a pre filter for the dust. I might re-burn the Can again before starting the next round. I use a small stainless steel retort for this that allows gasses to escape but doesn't allow enough oxygen into it to smolder the char down to ash.

This really surprises me regarding rhino pro as they were always good for me in the past BUT I'll see how my current one gets on..it's roughly 3 months old, so we will see

Yea .past year or so ive been hearing those rhinos fail time and time again . Must be the activated carbon they use goes bad .

last year i used a shagged rhino pro in reverse (blew out through it)as an emergency addition inline with another in the tent sucking, was extremely smelly cheese ,i mean eye watering ,and it seemed fine so left it as was and then stocked up on a new mountain air.

am now a couple o weeks into a 3x DP blueberry grow and absent mindedly i used that rhino pro again, but sucking through it this time, and its working fine,ie opening tent lets ,lots of smell out then zipped up ,no smell at all.
(mountain air is still wrapped up.nice having reassurance of a backup so still happy i bought it.)

so perhaps rhinos have changed something from old? and like trex said, they now need some sort of cleaning or reverse wind action or something. i have noticed my extractor boxfan can be dialled right down to almost silent now and still achieve neg pressure and zero stink.

obviously my next post will be about how long it took to put the flames out etc but its winwin for now.
