    How is your budget?

You need a tent, light, ducting, filter and blower to start.
budget is £200, is that too low?

That will be difficult. Decent filters are expensive and cheap filters dont work well.

    Will a 4" Extractor Fan Carbon Filter be suitable for a 120cm x 120cm x 200cm grow tent?

I've got a 4in rvk for extraction in a 1x1x1.8 m tent so don't see why not, I have a variac fan controller and on 1 you can see the tent sucking in so I'd say yeh but better wait for someone who can give you a posi answer

I know that the whole purpose of a carbon filter is for the smell.

The grow will be in an attic and there’s a sky line window literally right next to the tent.

My question is…does it have to be a 6” carbon filter fan? Can I just get away with a 4” considering the fact it’s located in an attic and there is a window there that can be opened and closed for ventilation to escape the smell? Surely the smell will rise up and not into the next door if it was downstairs.

Ah right I see, well given that I've got 4 in and theres only 20 cm extra all round on your tent I can't see why you'd need 6 in not 4 in, especially if you're not fitting filter

You'd be surprised mate how strong the smell can get and how it can permeate all over the house. My fan got switched off once and I was out the house for about an hour, when I came back, the house was absolutely reeking!
