Bone dry .the soil get hydrophobic and repells water and can be very hard to moisten again .

Bone dry and using fabric pots . Disaster in the making that dude . Keep it moist .then only top cm or so get flaky then water/feed .

You could skip the EC meter and just start with 2ml per liter and see how they respond. I do not know the PH of plant magic. It is not available in the US. A PH pen is always a good investment imo. Even if it turns out that your water mixed with PM has a perfect PH(I doubt it), at least you will know and be able to rule out PH as a cause.

Ok . The fabric pots alllow it to dry on the outter edges also .especially the balck ones . They do a great job but they have that disadvantage .

I have both black and tan coloured . I find the tan colored are more manageable
