What were the results against not using any 'extras' & just feeding base nutes as required? (not many people do that but I have!) Unfortunately my experiment fell flat on its face as the time I grew with only base nutes (not even a PK boost) was the time I smashed out a personal best (FFS!)

Since I started using the Ecothrive stuff my buds are consistently bigger so I put it down to that...only have previous grows without it as a bar though so could be just me getting better at growing

You should try one plant without it so you can compare the differences

Yeh I did read about the fungus gnats with canna but most the posts were from 09/10 lol, so disregarded them. Is it worth checking the soil first? Or do they only come along when its growing? How do you get rid of them if it does come about? May aswell get ahead of the game

So far every bag Ive had has had gnats...the store I get it from has also had them and claim that it was delivered like that, I spoke to the Canna rep directly and he said they had had issues but claimed problem was sorted now and gave me a fresh bag...I have since totally forgotten about this bag but so far I dont have a room full of them like before so maybe good now...as for getting rid

Keep top 2" of soil dry as possible as this is where they lay their eggs and dont like dry, maybe diatomaceous earth on top if you do get them, sticky traps/flypapers

I nuke everything with Bug Clear Ultra...kills all the beasties but its a systemic weedkiller so use at own risk

Treat the soil and the microbes will give you all the extras needed

Nice one, cheers for the pearls, do they cause massive problems if left? I'll have to have a search of potential problems that might arise and how to recognize stuff.
