Default Making the best environment out of a cellar

    Hi guys,

I am requiring any advice regarding an issue I have. I do not grow in the cellar as a rule of thumb, don’t agree its the ideal space naturally and wouldn’t do it by choice.

But seeing as though I have no choice at present has anybody conquered the art of controlling the environment in the cellar of a house (United Kingdom).

Imagining it’s going to be a task controlling the environment so if anyone has any pointers they will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

    Rigos

I think the main challenge would be humidity, so purchasing a good dehumidifier (couple of hundred quids worth minimum) would be the key to success in a cellar

Woudnt you just need good ventilation if you used a tent in there instead? Fresh air from outside and blowing old air out of cellar

    Guys,

Thanks for the advice. Tent will be the way I think naturally in the cellar.

Would I be right to be expecting unstable/volatile temperatures changes through the seasons of the year

You're welcome man, I would say cellars don't fluctuate nearly as much as other rooms in the house..in summer for example, they stay relatively cool in comparison.

Lights off winter time will most likely need some type of heating.

Stick around though..some growers who have actually grown in cellars might be able to share their opinions too

I'm not in the UK but I'm trying to grow in my basement. Temps are pretty stable but low. My humidity ranges from about 20% right now (winter) to 80%in summer. That's really just the nature of my home though.

If you have a smaller room in your basement it's a lot easier to maintain conditions in that smaller space than it is dealing with a whole basement.

As has already been said tent will make life easier good air flow and ventilation will be key. Like any space time will tell you what you need bro at the minute I’m struggling to keep a large bedroom warm in the dark normally it’s a real struggle to keep it below 33c with lights on from may til august with the room normally in the high teens during lights out. Last week or so it’s been low 20s lights on and has dropped as low as 6c lights out not ideal mucker but as I said constantly changing that you will always learn from

    Up the irons

What's your plans for the smell? Growing in your cellar, during flower its just going to rise up and permeate through your house.I'd definitely consider having a tent down there,so much easier to control the plants environment and deal with smells with a carbon filter.

    Hi mate,

I too have a cellar/ basement. I grew in tent during the summer. As others have alluded too humidity was the hardest thing to control down there. I would 100% advise not to grow without a controlled environment (I.e a tent or a custom box is a must) due to temp fluctuations etc.

I run a 600w dehumidifier all year round down there as it is just to clear the air.

Find your solem vents for fresh air intake and also to get rid of filtered hot air.

    Good luck
