Think you would need a digital timer ???

Can do with capillary action. I have seen in shops in the summer where you can screw these spikes onto lemonade bottles. The spikes have holes in them and the idea is that the bottle gets filled with water, screw on the spike, stick that into the soil near the roots of a plant before people go on holiday.

To be honest I can't see that as a deterrant to any opportunists, but the concept for gravity drip feeding without the use of electronics is there.

Il have ago at this, I reckon there’s a very simple method to keeping the medium wet in these tiny pots and it doesn’t involve drippers

I had a 4liter bucket gravety feeding a single dripper. I put a valve in the line so I could almost close it and it just dripped slowly. 4 liters would take about 24 hours. I was catching the runoff and reusing it for about a week before changing.

Bottom feeding? I considered this, but bottom feeding would have the roots growing out the bottom which to me seamed like a cheat.

They also have those spikes in ceramic, basically a larger Blumat spike. Probably already bigger then 50ml though

Here's some pictures of my 40ml bottle, I had it in the fill pipe of my SIP bucket but it was too high up for the water to wick up that far so moved it to the glass bottle instead and now have a decent yet modest water reservoir right below the bottle.
