    Default Seedlings and LED

Evenin all, anyone used led on seedlings? I've got an ish150 pro IS but not used it at begining stage yet, It's plugged in to a watt meter which is in a 6 way extension and it pulls 137 watt, at it's lowest setting it's about 40 something watts I think. Any suggestions as to what wattage it's best to start on? Is full whack your choice as long as it's far enough away?

Subscribing as I'm curious to say what people have figured out about this so far.

I just started a LED grow myself but not with an IS and I chose to hang the light as high as possible, which is 70cm in my case and run it on the veg mode on full power which I think is 85watts.

I run my 222W bloom buster at 16" for veg seedlings, and 11" during flowering.

Ok so you don't hold back on power just adjust height? It says on IS somewhere to hang 18in for veg and 12 for flower but I'm sure I read somewhere it should be 32in for veg and 18-22in for flower for the board I have. Need to do some searching

I was tempted to veg in cfl but can't be doin with the faff, plus no point having a board that goes all the way and only using it for flower. Want them to feel the power of led from the get go too, build up a tolerence maybe? Still a guessing game. Cant for the life of me remember where I saw IS put the height guide though, I had last grow at 22 in above canopy so definitely saw it lol, didn't imagine the numbers...I hope

I have to say I did like CFL for vegging because it's easy to prevent stretching by just hanging the lights as close as possible and they are not powerful enough to cause lightburn anyway at least the one I had wasn't, it only caused heatburn if the plant grew into the bulb.

Haha, yeh that caught me out a cple of times, poking it's way in to the bulb on morning inspection. They are nice and simple though like you say, will have to take a gamble, start at 20in say as a lot of height recommendations for led are 18-22 veg and 12-16 flower from what I've seen

I have an HLG100 and its full 100 watts and 30" is plenty early on. Try to resist lowering the light too fast.

They have A light chart over on google, it is what I go by. The more watts, the higher in Veg and Flower. If I remember right, it was 200W was 8 to 16" Flower, and 16 to 20" veg. Something like that. I have A 127W LED, and I can get it as close as 5 to 6" in veg with no problems, almost as close as A CFL.

Yeh I just had a look and a measure and 30 definitely seems right for this model, definitely read it somewhere lol. One of two plants on my last grow reacted badly to the change from cfl to led, could have been a cple other things aswell but it suffered light burn pretty badly
