    Default Extraction help please guys

Okay so I have a 6 inch ram mixed flow, with ram controller, the issue is when reducing the fan to 50% on the low setting the fan whines like a bitch, 50% on the high setting and the propellor inside wobbles like hell...is this normal or faulty? Also where my outtake pipe is the noise is like a jet engine and very loud is there a way of deepening the air flow noise?

Can't help regards the controller, I have a variac controller and on setting 1 it's fine, no extra rattlin or noise. With the end pipe, experiment with putting mufflers on it, I had some old tights over the end last grow and that silenced it quite a bit. Also had a cone made out of coco pops box. Just try different stuff and you'll see what makes a difference and what doesn't.

It is your fan controller to blame here

If you're using a cheap dimmer and your fan already has 2 speed settings then you're at risk of killing your fan. I accidentally did it with a twin speed fan.

Not being an electrics whizz, it's hard for me to explain but it's to do with the way the voltage/current is reduced. What you need is a variac controller if you wish to be making such large reductions to the fan speed.

I use an SMS controller & it can get noisy if I reduce things too far

I've reduced it on full power to about 45% because the exhaust hole is right by bedroom and air movement is very loud, trying to figure out how to dampen the sound of this then the fan can be on full blast, thanks again fellas
