It's more for me just to grow something across the colder, darker period...

TBH, if I don't just wash & munch them, they'll probably go into a salad

M_C, How are your onions doing?

I reckon at this rate they will be ready for summer!

It looks like I'm losing another one so it appears I may only harvest 4

Yeah, but that means I'll have to go out, and spend money. Why do that if I can have fun, be home, and have fresh spring onions for basically free?

As much as the curve might be flattening, social distancing could be in place "indefinitely". I ain't queueing outisde ASDA for a literal freaking hour for 55p worth of spring onions

Anyway, I need normal plants to take up coco run offs if/when I switch.

These are from last year. I forgot about them and they stayed in the garden throughout winter. If you only remove the green tops as in the pic they keep growing. The root ball on the big one fills the pot.

Starting to get there - Well, 3 of them are... I'm not convinced the 4th one will make it

I should really give them a clean up & get rid of the dead stuff....

    Just get them on.

    Are you growing from seeds?

You can keep the bottom parts of supermarket spring onions, let them root in a small dish of water then plant them outside. That way you have a little headstart over planting from seeds.

    Good luck!!
