Default Spring Onions on the window sill...

I get bored easily & sometimes I just have to find things to do.... and if they are to do with some sort of growing, then all the better

Anyway! It's cold outside & the light quality is poor... what can I grow? Why not some Spring Onions?

Very simple to do... I used a laundry pod box (with most of the label removed!)

Drilled some drainage holes in the bottom...

Filled it with Verve Multipurpose compost... but not all the way to the top!

I used 8 seeds, sown in two rows of 4. Probably too many for my pot? I don't know... but these are what I used

Cover the seeds over, pop some clingfilm over the top of the pot (to stop the compost drying out!

    ...and wait

If you're wondering, the lid of the box is now repurposed for a saucer... a perfect fit too

Nice MC . Outside i sow my onions 8" apart and they do well .
I can do smaller type green onions 2-3" apart and the do well also .
They do love a loose soil and watered sparingly i might add .

Them seeds dont like to be sown deep at all . Top sown like carrot seed is all it needs

Yeah, they looked like they'd be top seeds... I made a small row about 2mm down & just covered it with the soil around, so... touch wood

The theory is good... but, I suppose, it'll depend on the sunlight we get as to the result

Just remember that carbon tax as your government spunks hundreds of thousands of dollar on New Year firework displays! - IMHO, it is openly taking the piss out of the electorate!
