These are from last year. I forgot about them and they stayed in the garden throughout winter. If you only remove the green tops as in the pic they keep growing. The root ball on the big one fills the pot.

Starting to get there - Well, 3 of them are... I'm not convinced the 4th one will make it

I should really give them a clean up & get rid of the dead stuff....

I reckon now would be a great time to plant them as mine have taken feckin' ages

    Just get them on.

    Are you growing from seeds?

You can keep the bottom parts of supermarket spring onions, let them root in a small dish of water then plant them outside. That way you have a little headstart over planting from seeds.

    Good luck!!

Well, I harvested all four of them today and they'll be going in a salad for tea

Was it worth it? Hell yeah, all it really cost was the seeds & compost. The 'pot' was an old washing capsule pot that would go in the bin normally, they've required no nutes - just a little TLC

But, so much for 60 days! I reckon if I started them now then 60 days would be about right but they took me around 150 days but I started Xmas time when it was cold & light-less...

But you're not here for the words, you want some pics

So, this ends this diary... but I may wash the tub & restart

Nah, like I said, time was the only real cost, I was always going to go to the end

That said, a 50% loss was a little disappointing - but we enjoyed the ones we had left

Oh, yup, I washed the pot & restarted - well, I do have a few hundred more seeds LOL
