I've moved flats, at my previous address I had a ready supply of rainwater available to me so the issue of using tap water and the problems that arise from doing so never crossed my mind. Unfortunately after testing at my current I've discovered I do indeed have what that is considered to be Hard (between 200-400ppm is classed as hard? I believe I read but don't quote me) my reading is bang on 400ppm, I've looked into reverse osmosis it seems pretty expensive about £200+, I'm not against it in the future but ATM Xmas has left me a bit skint, I'm hoping for a short term cheaper solution which leads me to my question. I have a ton of sterile water and was wondering if this can be used? and if so can I just treat it as I normally would (add nutrients, adjust PH, etc) or will I have to do anything else before using? If this is not an option does anybody know of an alternative that is not as costly as the osmosis?
This is the stuff inquestion:
