    Default Sterile Water

I've moved flats, at my previous address I had a ready supply of rainwater available to me so the issue of using tap water and the problems that arise from doing so never crossed my mind. Unfortunately after testing at my current I've discovered I do indeed have what that is considered to be Hard (between 200-400ppm is classed as hard? I believe I read but don't quote me) my reading is bang on 400ppm, I've looked into reverse osmosis it seems pretty expensive about £200+, I'm not against it in the future but ATM Xmas has left me a bit skint, I'm hoping for a short term cheaper solution which leads me to my question. I have a ton of sterile water and was wondering if this can be used? and if so can I just treat it as I normally would (add nutrients, adjust PH, etc) or will I have to do anything else before using? If this is not an option does anybody know of an alternative that is not as costly as the osmosis?

    This is the stuff inquestion:

It'll depend on which PPM scale you are using mate... The Hanna scale would have that as quite hard water whereas the Truncheon scale would see it as a little harder than you would like - but there are many ways of measuring PPM (That's why we like to use EC as our unit of measurement)

It's Not What You Know, It's What You Can Prove

Thanks for the info, I checked and the device does have a reading for that (this was my first time using it).
