Default Best time to take cuttings?

I know everyone has different ways to work with cuttings and different times to take them etc etc, I thought I’d share my thought on it and how it works for me
First of all I always take my cuttings in flower, there’s a couple of reasons for this, first of all if I take them in veg I,d need to give them 10 weeks veg before flower room was vacant and I don’t want that, so I find if I take cuttings 2 weeks into flower when buds start then by the time I get them rooted and ready to run I,m only on 4-5 weeks veg before flower which is perfect for me , plus if you take cuts from a flowering plant then you,ll find you don’t need to top it as it,ll bush out itself, well it has with all strains I’ve worked with, I,ll keep my cuts in propagater for 4-5 weeks before they hit the big light, no feed just water, here’s a couple of pics , you can see how many leaves are appearing from the bud head

That’s them ready for 4-5 weeks veg then straight into flower

Hey that is awesome advice. I had always thought that cuttings should be taken in the "growing" phase for normal plants anyway, and have always just applied that rule to cannabis. This is great for me as I sometimes grow Regulars and this would save me a little time sexing them.

Does the bushiness continue if we just took cuttings, grew from cuttings, then take some more cuttings in the future generations? I know there are different camps about the plants getting less healthy or lose potency as the generations go on, what are your thoughts on that?

Yea man it just carries on, the cheisel cut I’m working with has been going over 7 year now same as the agent orange and there’s no loss of potency or yield, plus I’d rather work from a cut then take a cut from that as next mother as older plants are more prone to diseases etc, it’s worked me, also when cuts are rooting then I use a halogen lamp for light, I know halogen isn’t the right spec for growth, but it gives light so cut goes back into veg mode, I don’t want to encourage growth, I’m trying to hold it back so that’s the reason for halogen plus you get heat off it too, I’m sure just a bedroom light would work the same , just leave room light on

Yeh Murdock bro it works well it’s just getting them trough the reveg that pisses me off lol no patience but if you have the time it’s handy, I take my cuts the day off 12/12 but have taken them as late as 5 weeks in to flower

Exactly , your talking a couple of weeks hanging on time so your cuts are,not vegging for 8-10 weeks, 5-6 weeks is well enough veg time for me and it keeps the cycle going smoother , saves you keeping a mother too

i seem to be the same as the answerer above... i take my cutting 2 weeks in more so because im cutting all the lower brushg any way so its repot it or throw it.. another thing i do is leave them on 12/12 in the flower room until there rooting.. and i have no special method sometimes i just get a pot full of soil and throw it in.. soon as it looks like its growing back into veg...

You’ll get a better idea now of what I mean about how many leaves you get popping out from the bud sites , they’ll branch out to form a nice wee bush without topping , maybe a bit super cropping to level canopy before flower, less stress for the plant, I’ll do a weekly update to show yous what I mean

    Cheers m
