Autos are shit and not consistent enough, you can’t find a keeper and the seeds are like crack to breeders as they keep you coming back for more ffs.

I chose autos because I'm a noob lol, easiest way to start and see results, I was literally learning about growing as I was doing it, knew nothing before so didn't seem smart starting on photos. I smoke a lot so a quicker turn around of 4 plants every 3 months ish is a better option. Photos are appealing because of the vegging/flowering flexibility and the higher yields. This year I'll be making 2 x 2.5 - 3 ft sq spaces, one for autos and the other half to put 1 or 2 photos. The space atm is much easier to control with lights on 24

How do you mean? That 1 particular strain, for example seedsman zkittles auto might be noticably different each time you grow it? Sorry if I completly misunderstood

If you can grow an auto, you'll grow photos easily. Much more forgiving. I like the idea of photos in summer and autos in winter

I like auto's because I like a variety of weed and the quick growth rate of auto's is ideal for this. Why wait 100+ days for a photo when you can turn out an auto in 40-50 days, (some strains.)

    Very possibly yes!!
I like to know the outcome, it’s bad enough even trusting breeders seeds/breeding let alone a outcome on a auto.
They might be a lot better now a days but I don’t remember really seeing a pack of autos all being as consistent as photos.

    Here are my 2 cents.

Autos have come a long way from the mutated genetics when they were first introduced. They have far more stable strains avaliable. Autos are great if you want to plant and just leave them. They are very newbie friendly and remove certain risks such as light leaks no longer being an issue. For me, they are to most suitable strains for a beginner to see a full cannabis life cycle for a biginner who wished to focus on little training and just maintaining health to harvest.

Photos however are FAR more flexible. Once you have a basic understanding of the life cycle and have seen a plant to harvest, you are likely wanting to influence yield through variables other than health. Welcome to training. Photos flower when they are told so you have complete artistic freedom, no time limit and a blabk canvas. Should you choose, you have the option of doing only 2 plants(keeping it a very small grow) yet pulling boxes off each. Lst, scrogg, there are so many more options with training plants to fill your space than you would ever have on autos.

Lastly the holy grail and the decidong factor of why I say autos for new and photos for pro. You CANNOT take a cut from a flowering auto and reveg it. Should you get a great pheono, you get that plant them it is gone. Photos however you can literally repeatedly clone the best pheno you find and build and indefinatly library of your greatest strains that you will never lose.

For the reasons above, I'd advise anybrother to run a grow or 2 of autos as an introduction with the aim of moving swiftly to photos and getting elbow deep in the training.

Sidenote: M_C is a massive exception to this rule. That guy bangs out autos that achieve better results than some photoperiod strains on 3-4 weeks veg. If I had 1 guy on the Talk to recommend to you for autos, he holds the crown.

i do autos now mostly with one photo run a year in the summer(when i dont have to heat the space ) , i like the challenge of a auto, it takes some skill to get that perfect start , they love some training too and it can help yields, and they say they are for beginners!
    plus
not having to obey a light cycle , not needing my spaces to be light tight, i run 24h lighting in winter id rather pay for light than heat is my thinking , and they are every bit as good as any of the photos i grow,

ive gone kiss in my growing these last few years and autos fit in that nicely

I prefer the autos as well. Growing in a shed, so lights on 24/7. The potency autos deliver is outstanding and keeps blowing me away. Takes some good genetics and lighting, but when that's dialed in I get pretty good results.

Haven't been under 4oz pp since I got my quantum board. Between 60-70 days between harvest.

i had and still have a issue with when to harvest, i was told (not on here) that auto save u hassle, just follow the start and stop dates, simple..after a couple(on 3rd), iam starting to think thats crap, my smoke is fine, but on sale is better and i know the dealers, they are of course a lot more experienced and they dont use auto..so next grow i am going to ditch auto and go with photo. my hope is for giving up a fast yield i will get in return, higher yield of better quality..
