Hey gang,
So I've been planning out my year on the growing side of things. I'm just getting back into it after a hiatus so I'm starting from scratch.
I like to grow on soil and as organically as possible. I've tried other mediums and soil really is my favourite so this year I'm looking at making some of SubCool's super soil and cooking it up over the summer (save waiting 60-90 days in this cold weather.
So I've been looking up the recipe, pricing things up and trying to locate everything so when I'm ready I can have it all arrive at the same time.
All the measurements are imperial and mean very little to me. Therefore I've converted it to metric for those in the rest of the world haha.
I'll list the direct conversion and the rounded up version also
Remember with Organics it doesn't need to be 100% accurate, you're not baking a cake haha, so the rounded recipe should work just as well;
SubCool's super soil (UK Measure - exact)
382.2 litres high quality base soil
22.68kg high quality work castings
1.134kg fish bone meal
2.268kg high phosphorus Bat guano
2.268kg blood meal
1.134kg bone meal
0.7litre/700ml oyster shell
0.7l kelp meal
0.7l alfalfa meal
0.177l/177ml Epsom salt
0.237l/237ml Dolomite lime
0.473l/473ml Azomite
2tbs powdered humic acid
SubCool's super soil (UK measure - rounded)
400 litres high quality base soil
23kg high quality work castings
1.2kg fish bone meal
2.5kg high phosphorus Bay guano
2.5kg blood meal
1.2kg bone meal
0.7litre/700ml oyster shell
0.7l kelp meal
0.7l alfalfa meal
0.2l Epsom salt
0.25l Dolomite lime
0.5l Azomite
2tbs powdered humic acid
For the record, this is not my recipe, it's an old recipe from Subcool which has been modified by sub and others over the years. When using this soil, fill pots 1/3 to 1/2 full with super soil (can use 3/4 for super heavy feeders but always test on lower amounts first) . Top with a Standard light mix and then just add water until the end. Teas can be added if yellowing occurs earlier than you'd like.
Never put plants directly into super soil, the roots will find it and use the nutes as required
