    Default Stem splitting?

    Anybody on here tried stem splitting the week before chop? Combined with ice water flush to increase trichome production?

    Hi Lowrollerbean, I'm not sure about the ice water flush but I do know there have been a couple of threads on stem splitting with mixed opinions...it's an interesting topic!

    Here are some threads opened on the subject ;

    I think a great way to get the trichs built up is by giving them a good 3 week flush, I do this all the time now, I just think splitting stems can’t be good as the plant will just go into recovery mode and there must be a lot of stress for plant, I,m a believer in supercropping , probably does the same thing, apparently it’s sends hormones in plant mad lol

    There might be anecdotal results out there and those growers might swear by their techniques, and have the photos to show the internet etc.

    However, the logical and ressonable approach would be to consider the plant as a living, biological being, and how trauma such as splitting a stem and the shock of ice water would do to the plant's biological functions, optimal parameters for enzyme function, just to highlight a couple of points.

    There is tried and tested evidence that these plants operate optimally in the high twenties celsius degrees, and a low humidity during flower.

    If you insist, go right on ahead and post results.

    Just bear in mind that canna growing is a funny game where in the commercial world, every bit of improvement of efficiency counts - and if that can not be achieved, slowing down the competition is the second best way to get ahead. Think about it.

    I did side-by-side comparisons on an Exo Cheese run. 2 got stem-split and 2 were left alone. Literally zero difference in trichome production. Can't comment on an ice water flush.

    Happy to read this. I was about to split my stem. Now I remember that it is not worth the effort.

    A few people took the piss when I did it, but it's only once you do something yourself that you know for sure
