BUT speaking by experience .... Ive been ratted out for supposedly having 100's plants that were simply Tomato plants by peeps that I wont mention by name .

I remember years ago, people were always accusing each other of being cash croppers. Keyboard warriors, mate. I haven’t seen any of that going on for a long time tho, but having said that I don’t really browse that much.

Some folk breed ,some have mums ,some flower 10 plants and perhaps own a mum and a also breed ...yet they are stifled a little ,lots of many variables also the one you pointed out

I agree with you that the 10 plant rule may be outdated because of legalisation in some parts of the world, but I do like it to keep commercial growers away.

I'm not a heavy smoker but my Mrs. is. I grow 1 plant at a time in a wardrobe and in the 3-1/2 years I've been growing I've only had to buy weed once. I HATE dealers and all the crime that money brings to the table. It's a plant FFS.

It's not legal to grow here but I wish it was. Even if it was I would probably still only grow 1 plant in my wardrobe and 1 plant outside in the Aussie sunshine.

I really don't want to see posts of warehouses full of plants and trucks full of weed heading out for sale.

I love the fact that THCTalk is about personal use and homegrowers.

Have only read the first page of the discussion so far and have to say I agree with both, yes the 10 plant rule is limiting, especially for me as I'd like to be able to do SOG's with multiple strains in small pots while using a low amount of total watts. I'd like to do more breeding as well and as I've mentioned in another thread about this it's pretty much impossible to cross a photo with an autoflower and then stabilize that autoflower gene again with a 10 plant limit.

Having said that I really like how this is a true home-growers forum and that we are not overrun with cash-croppers here.

I'd prefer to see a wattage limit but that is not very easy to enforce and not all watts are create equal either. Well the watts are but different lighting systems use them with a different degree of efficiency.

I see it from both sides and understand the arguments for both.

What I find fascinating is the inadequacy of the law regarding plant numbers when there's such a thing as scrogging.

I mean, it's just fecking ludicrous what people have created from one or two plants. You could have the book thrown at you for 9+ plants yielding 1oz each, yet have a cup of tea and a nice sit down chat with the arresting officer when just two plants have been scrogged over the surface area of a full-sized snooker table.

The law is, indeed, an arse.

All very good opinions being posted, I like many here can definitely understand and see both sides of this debate...on the one hand, we have a fantastic community of very small personal growers, and on the other very valid points for the breeding/cloning side of things.

I think in the end though, I feel like it boils down to the type of growers we have and want here..the feeling I personally get is that THCtalk is special, it stands out for being friendly and as many have said here 'noob' friendly, full of growers who grow for their own consumption..allowing an increase may take that away from us, with bigger growers coming in and taking that 'personal grow' feeling away from us here, and I really do wonder how the 'vibe' of the forum would change..I would forecast it would be towards a negative direction...with lots of plants on show and as said before in this thread..that can be intimidating to new and small time growers..I can definitely see that for sure.


However as a few others have said 10 is a rather odd number too since the limit here in the UK is 9, so I could definitely see an advantage of making the max 9 plants to fit in within our current guidelines.

The plus side is, members who wish to grow more, can.. as long as it's not discussed here on this forum and only the max shown..then all is gravy and both sides are happy

Let's be honest many of us have signed up and became members of other growing sites and I do visit them from time to time but for me what sets thctalk apart from the rest is the "percy" feel of the place where the other seem like a dick measuring contest or maybe its because I only use the old school Web and not Tapatalk

Anyone who posts a picture with 10 flowering plants has more than 10 plants in total FACT.
Anyone who has 10 flowering plants is not a Percy grower FACT.
Many members on this forum will have more than 10 plants FACT.

I now grow regular seeds and often post pics of my 8 plant grow, how many plants do I have at any one time, who knows and who cares as long as I don't photograph them all together on the same thread. I don't think the Mods are going through every thread with a calculator in one hand and the hammer in the other.

It doesn't really bother me.

Maybe 10 plants or more in a 1.2 x 1.2 SOG under a 600w could still be percy a couple of times a year, but not many will be doing that.

Maybe 10 plants or more under 3 x 600w grown once a year could be percy but not many will be doing that. 50 oz a year still pushing it.

10 plants in veg and 10 plants in flower many will be doing that! 4-5 grows a year 200 - 250 oz a year percy ?

If I were a commercial grower the last thing I would be doing is posting pics of my plants on here lets face it we are never 100% safe but the site is less likely to be infiltrated with the 10 plant rule.

I thought of a compromise.....

Another site I use has a rule in their breeding section where more than 9 plants are allowed to documented so long as it is strictly regarding breeding. Anywhere else on the site is an Instaban and any non breeding ridiculous grows in that section is an instaban.

I think I'm gonna pass on breeding for a long while anyway
