For what reason would you want to use it?

Lightly misting the top could be done for some kind of pest control but not ideal, can’t think of anything else!

I was told it was good to keep any pests away. Not that I have any.

What pests are you expecting? Prevention and or organic cure i.e. preditors and neem oil and mild soap solution. Soil with a good micro population will look after itself, you'll have to look after what's above ground
