Default Strains that hate high density grooms

    Hello Talk

    Stoned Friday thoughts...

I have been noticing recently, that some strains really hate being grown in close proximity.

For myself, with very limited space, this has been quite an eye opener - more so as my growing years extend.

Combos I thought would work together, in facts stunt each other.

I was wondering if any others have noticed this?

Staggering I have found works to manage space .. but I was stupid and now have 5 plants between 45 - 70 days .. again doh!

Personally, I get bored growing two plants, although, in 1.2 x 0.6m I am thinking 2 plants would be better.

    Any thoughts?

Im in a similar size space to you (1.6x0.8m) I only ever do 2 at a time so cant say I have noticed overcrowding affecting things. When I started I ummed and arred about SOG vs couple large plants etc, My thinking was 2 large ones are gonna produce roughly the same as 3-4 medium or 5-6 small, with a lot less faffing about on multistrains and feed schedules.

Just having the 2 allows me to better manage climate and air movement and allows plenty of space in the already small area for getting around/moving the plants. Obviously its a financial bonus too as you are using less of everything nutrient wise

Guess it all depends on whether 2 plants would last you between harvests

The big downside to this choice is if you have issues during the grow you have no contingency plants. Its kinda all or nothing :P Reward can be worth it tho, my last 2 plants (Fast Buds Purple LEmonade) netted me just over 22oz for the jars and about 10oz of popcorn which I just freeze for hash later Thats more than enough for my needs, and will last till my next crop is ready

NO SELL, NO SMELL, NO TELL!!!

Guess it depends on what you're after. Yield or variety? If it's yield, I'd grow out two proper plants. If it's variety, I'd go more plants (autos, more than likely) in much smaller pots.

This time round I made that mistake, had 6 in a 1x1x1.8m tent with 3 different harvest dates. Just took the widow down so now, thankfully I only have one in there. But to address the overcrowding point I got 1 plant that gave me more than 1 oz...29 grams to be precise, and the rest, although nice smoke, all under 1 oz. Now I'm not the most experienced grower but they just got left under the light, fed/watered, some mass defol and some none at all so my results may not have been caused by over crowding but last time I did 2 plants and I think I got 43g off one and 35g off the other. Is there a lot to be said for the benefit of good airflow through plants and round tent?

And yeh I too get bored with a cple, hence the 6 lol. Bigger room next time.

Normally I get away with it as I grow small indica strains and use 3 litre pots.

The problem here is Toof Decay has grown far bigger than I could imagine. She did not start flower till day 50! Eeeek. So she has a fair bit of stretch left :-(

She should be a "medium" sized plant!!! I may cull her "for the better good".

    *apologies lights on :-)

If they ain't flowering by week 4 then, if I have two plants on the go, I'll dump it as it'll be too big for me to handle with the other plant too
