Heyo,
Long post, but providing some set up info so you can assist me with my 1st grow.
Midwest Attic Set up:
- Soil: 3 to 1 ratio of Fox Farm’s (3 parts) Happy Frog & (1 part) Light Warrior
- Mixed and dampened thoroughly, settled over three days
- Light: Used a 4’ 4k LED Tube during initial 1st week; now using SF-4000 LED (stock settings right out of the box)
- Grow Tent: 4x4x7 secret jardin
- 6” Fan
- 1500watt Oil based space heater
- Heating pad on low – used under plant tray to keep bottom of solo cups warm
- Using med size Tupperware bowl of water with hanger & towel for larger humidity surface area
- Hydrometer/Thermometer
- 18/6 light
Full story
On 3_6 Soaked seeds for 24 hours, 3_11 planted 6 germinated seeds in solo cups
Trying to balance the tent’s humidity and temps are all over the place due to cold attic. Used a blanket on the exterior roof of tent and it helps dramatically, but now get a little condensation on one of the walls.
Temps range from 66F (18.8C) and 37% humidity with lights off
And 71F (21.6C) to 85F (28.8C) with 21% to 55% humidity with lights on.
On 3_17 my SF-4000 arrived and I swapped out the 4’ LED tube and the brightness is stunning.
I turned off the oil space heater to understand what level of heat would emit from the SF-4000
Hung SF-4000 27” from the top of the soil, and checked on the set up a few hours later. New temp was 85F (29.4C) and humidity was 41%
Because lights turn off in 3 hours, I turned on space heater to keep the room at least 70F (21.1C) during lights out.
I do not yet have a HEPPA fresh air intake or exhaust set up, nor do I have a true temperature controller. This may be needed sooner that expected now with the new light etc.
The plants are 7 days old, I feel like they’ve been through a lot of stress due to wide temp swings. Hopefully the SF-4000 will create a better lighting conditions and promote health
I'm not adding any nutes yet, but have liquid seaweed, URB and molasses on hand.
Thanks for looking/commenting
