Question Water from reverse osmosis, worth?

    Hi growers,

Im thinking of buy a reverse osmosis filter, but i have a few questions about using it.

1- can the filter eliminate micronutrients that are not present in my fertilizers?
    2- Is installation difficult?
3- Do i need to put more CalMag in my nutrient solution?

If you have some tips or advice, it will be welcome!

OBS: Im cultivating in autopot system with 50% soil and 50% perlite; but i might be able to use other options like expanded clay or something like this (except coco, because i dont have nutrients for this method).

Hi mate, RO water should have an EC of zero (or very close to!) it tries to strip everything but the h2o

They look easy enough to install... but I've never done one

You may possibly need more calmag, depending on the plants requirements

Messing with one now. It was at the cheaper end of the range so cant really judge until used it a bit more but so far so good.

Do get 0.0 water and only very basic diy skills to put together.

Wouldnt bother using with soil though.

If you get one, make sure you get a float valve and shut off optional extra, otherwise you will get wet feet occasionally.

All depends on your water pressure to be honest.

They are easy to install, either self taping tap or to garden tap.

You must buffer with cal mag to 0.3 as per canna advise for their nutes.

If you are on a meter don’t do it!

75gpd is what I use and it delivers 0 EC. 5L in 40 mins.

Make sure you get a big storage tank r/o systems are slow and most only have a couple gallons available. Mine is a 14 gallon tank, but the bladder used up about five gallons so I get 8-9 gallons every 8 or so hours.

    Standard pressure is fine .

Ive installed them often for people on private wells . Pressures ranging from 20psi to 60psi .

Be sure to get a 5 stage r.o . 7 is best but the 3 stages are junk imho .

I use RO. My water pressure is not great but the RO works fine. Just slow. I fill 5 gallon jugs to have a surplus. RO has zero micronutrients. You need a full line of nutes including calmag.

Edit: nutes in every watering! RO will leach the nutes from the medium if not supplemented.

5 stage mate. The 6th stage is a UV light which is not necessary imo. The 7th stage adds minerals back into the water and puts the PH to over 9. Better to build the water yourself and not rely on the 7th stage mineralizatio.
