Depends how much you like watering Coco is a daily commitment, soil can be every few days. Decide which style suits your situation best and go from there.

How much space and time do you have? Soil will give an easier time starting out, but yields will be less. Coco can grow huge and require advanced training skills. Most people recommend starting with soil, building skills and then finding your niche.

If you go that route you may want to look at nutes that are pH stabilized. Usually they'll keep themselves in the correct pH range. I've never used them, but I've seen great results from New growers in Coco. Once in awhile somebody will have background pH that is high and they'll need to pH down their water before adding nutes to allow the buffers to catch up, then your good after that.

If your watering by hand I'd say go with soil.
Iv never done soil mind but I started of in coco with out thinking this and daily watering became a chore and made the hobby not very enjoyable lol. When I got my drip and drain it became fun again my 2p
