Hps an led

I’ve just borrowed my mate my new hlg 600h double b spec with the QB 18’s fitted and he’s running it next to a double cmh 315 watt with one master colour bulb and the other bulb they do that slips my mind now but he got it up 3 days ago, I’ll just make sure I can put a picture up because I have my own garden running at full plant count oh and he swapped the cmh for a 600 watt hps straight away he got a better lux reading which I know isn’t perfect but I can get a rough ppfd reading from that and temps are running better with less air con.
This should be interesting and I do expect some bud in return
Oh and he’s Flowering so it’s not the boring part, think a week or two ?

I'm thinking of doing this. I have this bulb but a 400w, is that ok for vegging 4 autos from seedlings til they flower then use my 150w full spec led alone or switch bulb to hps flower + Led and use both?

I have found out the best bulb for full spectrum etc is the Phillips green power.

Thanks man, understanding all this different light malarky will take me a while lol. If I used the 400w mh bulb for few wks of veg until flower, would you recommend putting the hps flower bulb + the led in together at that point?

Why not it could help with temps and depending on your led it could give you red spectrums your missing
I’d try it 100%
I always stayed my for the start then hps I’ve also finished with the metal halides too with good results

Ok sound, nothing ventured nothing gained right. Does about 30cm above canopy sound about right for 400w mh? That's waht I've read, never used hps/mh before so got no reference point

I go about 16”18 inches I think with the adjust a wing and 600 watt hps which I think are hotter , you’ll be ok with the hand test too tbh mate

Cool, probably have a look at putting it in today then. Led love mag so watch out for that, I had plant magic organic mag, use it a few times throughout grow and it seems to do ok, most plants had no mag issue this time round. Will be a learning curve for ya though regards how much power to use and height, good luck. Any height recommendation for the hps/halide bulbs for the different stages?

Yeah buddy get it in their more light the better, i would keep it at the same height the LED is or i could see it blocking it

With the pm organic mag can you use it in soil or do you spray the plant cheers for the help buddy

Just remember a watt of hps is worth nearly 2 watts of mh
