Default LED strip build for 1 plant

So after trying to grow 2 plants in my cupboard I converted, I've decided it's too cramped so I'm going with 1 at a time in there. I worry then about my supply, so I've decided to build a small veg cabinet.

It's too small for a cfl reflector ( inside measures 39cm wide, 40cm deep and 83cm high). That's assuming my diy skills are up to the task of building the cabinet. As usual I'm making things hard for myself and experimenting with an epoxy resin finish. Easy on a table, harder with parts that will need assembling.

So I'm going with LEDs. The diodes on the strips are spread more than on traditional grow lights so they're better in a restricted height like mine. I wouldnt attempt this usually, but once again I have our resident guru Gardro guiding my moves and ensuring I use the right parts. Its insane how many considerations there are once you start to research what you'll need so many many thanks Gardro. For those of you wanting something for 2 plants, check out my other light build.

I've ordered everything I need I think. Below is what's been purchased. Total cost is about £130. Probably could have been cheaper but I'm paying extra for the sellers with quick delivery and trying to ensure I use quality products. Total strips used will be 8. I ordered 10 cause you get a discount so the extra 2 only worked out at 2 quid each.

Will use rivets on the frame. Went for angle bars either side for strength. And the larger one will be where the driver and dimmer switch is located.

Items are due to arrive in about a week. Cant wait

I did some of the epoxy today. Annoyinging I needed double the amount that I had so I've just done a very thin coat. Debating if I can be bothered waiting on another delivery. It's not gonna be a centerpiece and I've had a chance to experiment so I'm just gonna move on and focus on assembling the sides top and bottom tomorrow. I'll the cut, sand and epoxy the door. And once that's attached I can work on the seal.

I'm already regretting not making this thing a bit wider, but that's only cause I'm day dreaming about possible scenarios where I decide to flower in there... such as for a mug challenge or something.
That then got me thinking in about a diy carbon filter and I was looking at steel mesh on Ebay before I remembered I'm just making a veg cabinet... for now lol.

More arrived. Just waiting on the flat bar and flex. Also need to find an old power lead to chop and use between the ip68 plug and the UK plug. I have a faulty oil radiator so I'll cut it off of that I think. The faults with the switch so as long as the dogs havent chewed the power cable I'm assuming itll work. Had hoped to get the flat bar today to work on the frame.
I'll be focusing on the cabinet door today instead.

I give up on the epoxy. My own fault... ordered the wrong type. Too focused on the delivery time and cost. Got the quick setting kind... was halfway through covering the cabinet door when it started to set. The stuff left in the mixing bowl smoked as it set. I tried chiseling it off but it tears up the osb. So new plan is to cut a new door from ply as I've ran out of osb) which I've done. I used a trimmer/router to create a 2mm deep channel on the inside of the door for the seal to sit in. Tomorrow I'll sand it, paint it, and then use what little normal epoxy I held back to give it a thin coat.
