Whether my par is under 1000 is dependent on watts as I can't control height. If I couldn't dim from 130w to 40w, 12" height would be a push. Yet if I dimmed it to 40w, the max height would more than likely be <12".

I agree with gardro, I thought that it would result in needing a DIY set up. I've spent the past few weeks trying to put the parts together but it's hard to do when 99.9% of any material out there uses cxb's.
I don't need that much power in one place, I need to spread it out and make it dimmable so the plants are safe if the should start becoming hard to manage.

Is there anywhere I can learn how to build the light for my area? Or even someone willing to walk me through it?

It is a small space haha I'm looking forward to it though. I believe if I use the traditional SCROG method, I can spread the plant out relatively easily. It's literally the light coverage that has me stumped.

I thought as much, I've been trying to rack my brain and work out how to get the coverage and the spectrum.

I don't suppose you'd be able to lend a hand to help me understand/set up what I need by any chance?

Have a look at this thread and see if its something you fancy doing. Its going to cost more than buying a board but its the irregular space that requires this sort of solution

I'm about to make another light 30cm x 30cm'ish with Gardros help too. But it's for a height of 80cm in a veg cabinet that's 40x40cm

Why would that Spider Farmer create hotspots? What's the difference?

    That's cool!

I was thinking along the lines of the light i'm looking at is 30cmx27cm. That's practically the length and width of my space so thought that would be ideal as everywhere gets its own led lol

Even if I ran it as low as 40w?? The MeanWell driver it comes with is dimmable from 40w to ~130w.

Let's say for arguments sake, the PPFD is 700 @ 4" ran at 40w. Could they be within 4" of the light without any adverse affects or is this uncharted territory still?

If the individual LED's are full spectrum then I can't see any issues? It isn't relying on a light mixed over a certain distance, it outputs the full spectrum needed without mixing with other LED's
Similar to a CFL, their output isn't intense enough to do damage when the plants are close to the bulbs and they can emit the full spectrum without mixing with other lights.

Noone is going to mess around with 4inch par readings to dial in like that, but good luck, it sounds like you already have a mind set.

Think of the coverage you will get at 4 inch....

Also think when the plant grows only 2 inches, you will have four times the par at the canopy...
